Trash And Recycling

The Township renewed trash and recycling services with Rumpke Waste and Recycling in 2022. In a joint bid with the Village of Richfield, the Township approved and entered into a three year contract with an option to extend for two additional years.  The Township and the Village of Richfield still remain as the few municipalities that continue to fund and manage this service for the residents.  The Township's 2023 cost for the contract is $207,030.

Trash Collection days vary among the residents of the Richfield Community.

Curbside collection begins at 7:00 a.m. and residents should place all trash at the curbside before 7:00 a.m. of your collection day.  There is NO SET TIME for pickup and Rumpke may arrive early in the  morning.  Rumpke remains in the Richfield Community until 6:oo p.m.

If the actual date of the holiday falls on a weekday before your normal day of collection, Rumpke service will be delayed one day during that week.

If the actual holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, Rumpke service will NOT be impacted and service will occur as scheduled.

Residents can either call the Township Administration Office, check the newspapers or the Township Website Homepage to verify weekly collection impacted by an observed holiday.

Any questions or concerns may be directed to the Township Administration at 330-659-4700 or Rumpke Waste and Recyling Services at 800-828-8171, PROMPT # 3 THEN PROMPT # 2.  To learn more about Rumpke, visit

Household Hazardous Waste Recycle Center

The Household Hazardous Waste Recycle Center, is operated by ReWorks (formerly known as the Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority).  The Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Center is located at 1201 Graham Road, Stow, Ohio.  The center is for Summit County Residents only and is open on Thursdays 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., from June through September.

ReWorks encourages phone calls and questions.  You may call 1-330-374-0383 or visit their website for information and resources.  Please note that this service is available to SUMMIT COUNTY RESIDENTS ONLY and no business, school or government waste is accepted.

Solvents, automotive fluids, lawn care products, batteries, and tires are just a few of the acceptable items that can be dropped off and recycled.  All recycling of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is free except for tires.  The fee for tires is $1.00 (cash only) per tire.  The center accepts light truck and passenger tires only with a limit of ten (10) tires per visit.  Visit for a complete list of all acceptable items.

Oil based paint is acceptable at the HHWRC.  However, LATEX PAINT IS NOT.  If you have dried latex paint cans they are an acceptable item for curbside trash.  Latex paint can be dried out by adding a material (i.e. cat litter, sawdust, shredded newspaper) into paint and allow mixture to dry thoroughly or simply remove the lid and let the pain dry out and then place in your trash.
